May, 2013: If you don't already know, the State, the VDFP, the VFLSC, and many others in public safety, are pursuing the construction of a Public Safety Memorial on the Capitol Square for the 822 identified members of Virginia’s Public Safety Community (Fire, EMS, LE, VANG, Correctional Officers, ABC Officers etc) who have paid the ultimate price to protect Virginia. The design of the memorial has been completed, the site has been established, and now it is time to raise the $2 million to erect the monument. Can you help ?? Will you help ?? Please contribute directly if you can, and contribute indirectly and admirably by telling everyone you know to do the same !!

*GoodQuestion: Are there any notable statistics that one can refer to that show safety awareness programs work and do prevent injuries and save lives? If so, where can I find them?
"The most comprehensive source for discovering information of this kind is the USFA Library. I’ve assembled a resource page that focuses on fire safety studies and articles that have appeared in the scholarly literature. Please visit this web page and look for the link to Smoke Alarms in the table. http://www.lrc.fema.gov/path_firesafety_prlit.html You can browse what we have there and if any are of interest please let me know and I’ll provide you access to the article(s)."

YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE:
The VFLSC urges
all safety-conscious Virginia citizens to
consider helping with the implementation of code changes that would
promote residential automatic fire sprinkler systems.
This improvement will save lives and
greatly reduce property losses. Unfortunately, many greedy,
misinformed homebuilders are trying to defeat this initiative
that many government agencies, such as the State Fire Marshal's
Office, approve of.
The VA Fire Prevention Association has this web site to keep you
informed: http://www.vfpa.org/VA-res-sprinklers.html
Please visit it,
and call or email your representatives in government.
